About 2,000 years ago, Jesus preached the teachings of God on the Sea of Galilee in Israel and became famous for his miracles, including healing, raising people from the dead, and feeding large crowds with miracles. He took acts that only God could do and brought them to earth. Jesus also called himself the Son of God.

Jesus’ actions naturally attracted jealousy, especially from the Pharisees: they were experts in biblical law, and they used to preach the Bible in the synagogues, condemning people by its rules, and the Sadducees: they were noblemen at the time of Christ, and were more strict than the Pharisees in keeping the laws of the Bible.

At that time the Roman Empire ruled Jerusalem and the people had to pay heavy taxes, so the Jews cried out to God for salvation from the Roman rule and to establish their own nation. The miracles of Jesus drew the attention of the people at that time, and the expectation of establishing a new empire was placed on him.

One spring day, three years after Jesus and his twelve disciples wandered the Sea of Galilee preaching the kingdom of God, Jesus and his disciples went to the city of Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. The Passover was also a time to remember God’s deliverance of the Jews from the tyranny of the Egyptians.

Jesus entered Jerusalem on this day and drew a great welcome from the crowds. However, he did not ride into the city on a mighty war horse, but on a gentle donkey. Although the crowd hailed his entry into the city, they were puzzled.

As soon as Jesus entered Jerusalem, he went to the temple and drove out those who were in the business of buying and selling. His actions also caused discontent among the people. In the evening, he dined with his twelve disciples and foretold that he would become the Lamb of God and die for the sins of the people, bringing the true kingdom of God to earth.

Because of man’s jealousy of him, Jesus eventually died on the cross. But because he was completely sinless (had done nothing wrong), death could not hold him, and he rose again three days later. That day was Sunday. Therefore, the date of Easter varies from year to year, but it must happen on a Sunday.

The death of Jesus can be linked to the entire biblical book of Genesis, where Adam sinned and brought sin into the world. Jesus, as the Son of God, was born in the flesh as the offspring of Adam, and took the place of Adam, the father of all mankind, to bear all the sins and finally to drive them away from us. This is the Kingdom of God that Jesus said would come.

This Kingdom of God, which is not a physical political kingdom, is a disappointment to people. However, as Jesus said, the Kingdom of God resides in every human heart. His death, resurrection, and departure also allow the Holy Spirit, who is perfectly holy, to descend into our God-forgiven bodies to give us peace and joy. The acknowledgement and acceptance of Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins also enables us to bear the joy of eternal life.

This important day of Easter is about the happiness of all mankind. Because from this day on, people can pray directly to the Father and receive their identity as children of God. Also, because of the death of Jesus, we can have peace and joy on earth that cannot be described in words.

Easter eggs and rabbits are the symbols of Easter and they both represent the beginning of new life. The rabbit is a symbol of new life because of its ability to reproduce and its ability to flourish.
